Biography
Madrid is where J. del Pozo, one of Spain's fashion icons was born and raised. In 1974, he opened his first cloth store for men in Madrid, at Almirante street in the emblematic Chueca neighborhood.
His first men's collection was presented in Paris's SEHM in 1976. In the 80s J. del Pozo began his adventure in the world of fashion and catwalk. He presented his first women's Prêt-à-porter collection in 1980.
In 1989 he transferred the presentation of his collection to the Tokyo Fashion Foundation and in 1990 to the "Louvre's La Couture Carrée" in Paris. Since Cibeles Fashion Week's birth, J. del Pozo has been one of its leading lights and has remained a staunch supporter throughout the years.
At the beginning of the nineties J. del Pozo entered the world of fragrances with: "Duende" (1992), the first of his successful fragrances. He presented "Quasar", his first masculine fragrance in 1994. "Esencia de Duende" in 1996, Halloween in 1997, a real milestone due to his excellent reception abroad. This success is followed by "Quasar Adventure" in 1999, "On Él" and "On Ella" (2001). "J. del Pozo in Black" (2005), "J. del Pozo in White" (2007), "Halloween Kiss" (2008), "Halloween Kiss Sexy" (2009). And this year, has launched "Ambar" inspired by the feminine sensuality.
Apart from his passion for fashion and perfumes J. del Pozo is also a ballet and opera lover. This passion has led him to design and create the wardrobe of entire ballets and operas..
With the arrival of the 21 century, J. del Pozo decided to expand his horizons and began creating a varied array of accessories: glasses, watches and even an extensive collection of home ware.
In August 2011 Jesus del Pozo passed away in Madrid. The city has organized several tributes to the designer. In February 2012 Perfumes y Diseño S.A. acquires the fashion house Jesús del Pozo and in March they have announced that Josep Font will be the next creative director.
