Biography

Roberto Verino was born in 1945, in Verín (Orense). After studying in Paris, in 1982 he created his first woman´s Prêt-à-Porter collection. In 1983 he opened his first shop in Paris. He has showed his collections at the Cibeles Fashion Week in Madrid since 1984.

In 1987, he reached an agreement with El Corte Inglés to sell his collections in these department stores. In 1990, he was awarded with the Baileys prize for the best Spring-Summer Collections presented at the Cibeles Fashion Week and with the “T de triunfador” from Telva, for the best Spanish designer. In 1992, he opened his first shop in Madrid and he was granted the “Aguja de Oro”, the most important prize awarded annually to the best international designer of the season. In September his first woman´s fragrance, Verino, was launched.

In 1994, he received the “T de Telva” for best Spanish Designer. In September of the same year, he was awarded for the best Spring-Summer Collection 95, at the Cibeles Fashion Show. In 1997, he presented his first Roberto Verino men´s Collection and Verino Jeans Collection. In 1999 he signed a licensee agreement with Perfumes y Diseño S.A in order to develop and to launch his new fragrances, and also for the international positioning of his existing lines.
